Ver comes from the Latin verus, meaning true and genuine. It is the root of verity and verify.
Allo echoes greetings and phone calls across languages: Allô? Alô! Alo.
Together they make the true hello. The authentic self, reaching outward again, even when speech and movement make communication hard.

Verallo’s mission is to help people get back into the conversations and moments that matter, with dignity, agency, and a voice that still feels like them.
This is personal.
My dad has always been one of the people I look up to most. Creative, smart, funny, generous, kind, opinionated, and the kind of person who would give his time and energy whenever someone else needed help. Parkinson’s has slowly taken so much from him, including the ability to do many of the things he loved, to help people the way he always had, and to communicate with the people around him.
For years, even sitting with him in the same room, real conversation could feel almost impossible. We might spend thirty minutes, an hour, sometimes longer, simply trying to understand one or two sentences. He tried speaking, writing, and using the expensive communication tools he was given, but they kept failing him.
He has late-stage Parkinson’s, and ordinary things most of us take for granted have become incredibly difficult or impossible. I love my dad immensely, and I desperately wanted to help restore some of his agency. I wanted to hear his thoughts again. His feelings. His humor. His voice.
I built the first version of Verallo for him. The night I brought it to him on a new iPad, he used it and told me it was simple, in the best possible way. I told him, “It should be, Dad. I built it just for you.” It was one of the most emotional moments of my life. Later that night, after we had communicated better than we had in years, he asked whether it could help others too. Even then, he was thinking about other people in need.
That question is why Verallo is being built for more than one family. I’ve spent more than thirty years building software, and this is by far the most important thing I’ve ever built. Every day we learn from real use, and every improvement is aimed at helping people get back into the conversations and moments they should never have been pushed out of.
